Clay Porter's video is nearing completion. Clay stepped it up this year to make a full World Cup race Documentary focusing mainly on Downhill. The trailer and a website are up and running, video is called "Between the Tape"... it looks to be his best work yet. His zipline footage is a nice new view, he is constantly developing his footage and camera work, guess that's what happens when you go to film school and have a passion for something. He will be in australia this week, so hopefully I can get a sneak peek!!! . Check it out... www.betweenthetape.com trailer
Finally here!!! Velonews has distribution at almost every major american news stand or large bookstore, so this is a big deal for me and my sponsors. It is also an honor to make history with the other two ladies. It will go up on the wall for sure. Velonews USA Cycling
Martin Whiteley has helped out with a new version of World Cup Statistics. He was involved with the UCI and the MBG magazine when it came out in the 90's. He now runs the Honda G-cross team and remembers everything. Thanks Martin:)

MBG was this Mountain bike guide/ magazine for World cups- back in the day. They covered rider's info, teams, course maps, events, riders statistics, interviews. I am not sure how many of these guides they made, but back in 98 and 99 when riders were making 6 figure salaries, the sport was big time. You get a real sense of it all. Pick up the magazine and it is a dream world. Top riders have a full page with an action shot, head shot, lifestyle, synopsis of their career, results highlights, number of world cup wins, nationality represented, team, etc. Imagine seeing that now. It would be incredible and probably recruit a lot more people to race. I would pay money to buy one if they still had it, World and World cup coverage is as good as it gets for me.
Cool things to know- like that Anne-Caro won 12 DH world titles in her career, that Peaty's first World Cup win was in Snoqualmie, Wa in 1998.
I just found out that the UCI has a new rule and some changes for next year.
Kathy Pruitt is a rad chick. The more time you spend with her, the better you understand her character. It is not often you meet a person with her kind of positive outlook on life, sense of adventure, and bravery. She has been known to take off to any part of the world at the drop of the hat, no worries, and make the most of it....
We are down in Canberra for a Mtb race at Mt.Stromlo. Glen Jacobs has been working on this place for about 5 months or so, and it is something to behold. Dh, 4x, xc, and a crit track.
Private label lip balms. My good friend Maxine Irving, a former Mtb racer, who used to also work for the company Eco Lips, has started a company called Access eco. They make organic lipbalms and sunscreens, but are also printing private party labels and stuff for their products. I did one for jillkintner.com and think it is a really good marketing tool and easy to do.
Had to save a possum the other night that got into the roof. Australian possums and American Opossums are a little different, but kinda the same. They are much cuter over here, kind of like the aussie version of a squirrel, since they don't have squirrels- next best thing, little bigger.
Possums are sort of pests, but they are important to the ecosystem. They are nocturnal marsupials that eat parasitic plants like mistletoe in the gum trees. They don't dig holes or do any real damage, but are after easy food and a warm dry home.
If you capture one it breaks up his family and causes some grief. The survival rate is pretty bad for a lone possum released to a new spot. You are supposed to build alternate housing like a little box in a tree, keep a bright light shining in the roof for a few days, and close off the holes in the roof. I just though since they are protected creatures and most people want to shoot them over a little lost sleep, that some knowledge might save a critter or two.
