Ft.William Grows...

The last issue of Dirt had some aerial shots from Ft.William. Looks like they have extended the 4x by a couple of straight aways and are getting crazy with the turns. Hopefully they get a few races in on the track to figure it out, those types of turns need a lot of attention to make sure that the lines work. World Championships are there in Scotland for 07 come September, should be the biggest event yet, crowds there go nuts.

The whiter colored turn in pic 1 is the old first turn.

New Sponsors

Team Gt is mixing it up for next year. We are now going to be running Kore Bars and Stems, and e.Thirteen Chain guides. Prokop runs Kore as well and has designed custom bars, etc. to be out soon, so it should be good, you'll see em when I do:) e.thirteen have always had good stuff, so that's cool too to go back to some homies.

RedBull.com

I have a little interview on the Redbull site right now. Every time I go to that website I learn something cool about the people involved with red bull or what other athletes are doing. They also have these Art of the Can contests that are amazing. I saved up cans for so long wanting to build a sculpture- Never finished though cause my jointery was ghetto:( Glad somebody has done it.

Beggsy Does 'NAM

Our friend Paul Begg is off to Vietnam for a month to work design for Crumpler bags. Beggsy has been around bikes forever, he usually assists Sharples at worlds with the Aussie team these days. Anyway, he is our neighbor out here, and just wanted to wish him luck. Crumpler has a pretty cool website and makes all kinds of bags; computer bags, bike messanger bags, etc. crumplerbags.com

Sea Otter Classic

Hmm. There have been a few changes made to the ol Sea Donkey this year. After they took away all the prize money last year, they decided to take away the 4X event this year, and add Super D as the third event to the omnium. Pretty lame I think, takes away the spirit of the gravity omnium. Nobody watches the Super D. Anyway, the 4x was too difficult to build and too expensive, but they are going to have a bmx event now, which will be much much more difficult to build and more expensive. It will be fun, but that is just another bike to bring. Why not just build it on a slope and use it for dh bmx and 4x. It would be cool to have one bike for everything. Lets hope for no rain this year:)

Skatepark

My first time at a skatepark in awhile and I busted out a few new skills! a 180 on a 1/4 pipe, manual across this flat bit and droppedq in, and a nose bonk over a tabletop. Basic stuff, but I was stoked- something different.

Mom in OZ

My mom has been out here in OZ visiting for the past couple of weeks,,, she left today. Good to have a bit of home while over here. 6 months is a long time to be away, so I was glad to see her. We also had Bryn's mum up for a day, so we took them both to the Jenolan caves. Amazing forms in there, something worth seeing, for sure.

USA BMX

Most of you probably know this, but USA Cycling has hired Mike King as the program director and Greg Romero to be the coach of the USA BMX Olympic program. I think it is an amazing opportunity for both of these guys, but even cooler that two great riders, who have had the experience can now relay it back to the younger guys and girls. Congrats to them.

Renee Junga Interview

The first time I saw Renee Junga ride BMX was in a video from the 2005 BMX World Championships in France. For the Main Event, the TV zoomed in for an intro of each rider and a wave. Renee was in there, black bike with a bright pink fork and brake leaver, did her wave, then in the race proceeded to pass girls like they were standing still on some huge double at the end of the course. To add insult to injury she threw in an x-up or a whip or something and took the silver medal. I thought , damn that was pretty cool. Then I met her at a BMX national last year and continued to be impressed with her skills. She is by far the best girl jumper I have ever seen, and an inspiration.
