Mobbin' in the snow

Snowboarding is by far the best thing about winter!! I forgot how much I loved it since i have missed most of the last three winter seasons being over in Aussieland. Spring conditions and the possibility of rain scared most of the pansies away, so there were no lift lines, and plenty of mountain for us to shred. April and I mobbed all day, full speed, the only way to do it:). The snow wasn't bad through the trees and in the backcountry, so that is where we were. Bit of a leg burner the first day back, but well worth it, snowboarding makes me very happy. Even a spot of blue sky in the end. Best of both worlds.

GT Bike designs?

Wondering how my bike designs are going?? They're not... Being in Australia made commuication a little tricky on a project like this, so I had to stand aside this time. None of the designs or my name will be used with the new women's line. Maybe next time,,, I have some good t-shrt ideas, so we will see if I can make something out of all this. Here was a mini sample of a bike or two- Rights reserved.

Schedule Change

So the North American World Cup is out even with Nissan backing the series, but that's old news. I guess Whistler was really close to having the event, which would have been the best race of all time, but that would be a heavy load to pay for having Crankworx and a World Cup in the same month. For anyone who owns a bike, Whistler is great, go visit!!

Clay is Finally Ready

Clay is going to premiere his video Friday night at the Sea Otter race. He tells me that this is his best yet and is a lot different than the last two, so only a few more weeks and you can decide for yourself...

Last Moto in OZ

Today was the last time, for the next 7 months, that I will get to ride my 150. Just learned how to hit small gaps too, till next time I suppose,,,although, SDG is selling 50s in America for prettty cheap, so who knows, a 50cc could potentially fit in the back of my Jeep. SDG minibikes

Windsor 4x

Johnno and I went down to this local 4x race in windsor for some practice,,, couldn't stay for the race, but had fun riding around in the mud. The track is out in the middle of nowhere, farmland. We passed a lama farm, butterfly farm, and quite a few ponies. Anyway, it is on private property owned by a DH/4x rider named Doug, and his family. I enjoyed it, few options in the turns, some jumps, and yet another permanent 4x track for Australia.

African Pruitt??

Kathy Pruitt and Anka are in South Africa right now doing this 600 mile Cape- epic race. Not sure if 8? hrs a day on a saddle sounds all that glamorous or whatever it is, but I am sure they have "epic" scenery to behold and a few laughs. kathypruitt.com

Todd Wells Interview

Your favorite XC bandit, and mine, Todd Wells...
After a full season of world cup cross-country (xc) racing, Todd went straight into the Cyclocross circut. He workes damn hard putting in the hours on his bike, but can still hit dirt jumps and do wall rides with the best of em. Pretty rare to get an XC interview on my site, but Todd is special ,,he gives us a reason to go out and watch xc:)

What's in a Name?

Bikercross, mountaincross, and 4x. 1 sport with 3 different names. Head to head racing has come a long way in the last 10 years, evolving through a few names. Back in the day they raced world cup slaloms, then merged the slalom into dual for more excitement, but it just became take out city, so then they changed to 4 man events. I think Bikercross sounds the best and explains more of what it is. 4x doesn't explain bike riding too much, mountaincross sounds like a silly moutain board event, but bikercross fits. Snowboarding has boardercross, dirtbikes have motocross, etc. England was the first to coin the term "bikercross" back in 1999- I think. Anywho...props to England for a good name, who knows where it will be in another 10 years, or what it will be called. 4x Rules for now:).

Clay's Zipper

Mountain Bike filmer extraordinaire, Clay Porter, and his friend Olivia, came out to Australia for a vacation and some extra filming. Clay has been going "nutz" with these zip line shots. It is quite a procedure to set up....

Chris Powell Interview

Chris Powell was on his way to becoming a top 4x finisher in 2006. At the Brazil World Cup round he managed a 3rd place and seemed to finally be healthy and in the proper mind frame for competitive World Cup racing. Then, at the Jeep race the very next week, he had a freak crash that led to a life threatening spleen injury. He lost nearly everything,,, a spleen, his momentum, ALL his sponsors, some confidence, but luckily not his life. Now after half a year off from racing, the psyche is back and you can bet that he will be as fast as ever.....

Canberra BMX round

I went down to Canberra for a UCI BMX round last weekend. I haven't raced BMX since the two rounds I did here last year, and before that one or two, but I have had about a 4 year break from it.
