Washougal MX

We were trying to hit up the Washougal outdoor motorcross round sunday, but cause the Ferries were closed in Victoria, it didn't happen. Apparently it was one of the best races ever,,, Bubba and Villopoto won the first motos and then ate shit in the second, see who fought back and who got carted off.. Racer-X show

World Championships of BMX

VICTORIA, BC.

Today started early. Woke up at 6am for 8:30 practice and was at the track till like 6pm. There was so much talent at this event, and with the jr and elites running a separate day, it was a much better format for BMX riders and spectators. I am impressed with where it is headed....

Practice BMX

VICTORIA, BC.

Haven't been out on the track yet. Today is the first practice day for elites and jrs. They race older amateurs today before our practice, so we can see a few laps before giving it a go ourselves. They raced 14 and unders yesterday, US took something like 11 ot of 17 titles, being on the same continent helps for that. Not a whole lot going on, just had a couple days of hanging out.

UCI BMX WORLD CHAMPS

VICTORIA, BC.

Got into Victoria, BC last night. Even though I live pretty close to here I have never been to the island. We are west of Vancouver, about an hour ferry ride. Anyway, this place has some of the best scenery, and a nice downtown harbour area with flowers everywhere and little cafes, hotels, and restaurantes, sweet spot for BMX Worlds...

Crankworx Garbonzo DH

WHISTLER, BC.

Heard the news from my buddy Clay Porter. Guess Sam Hill won in the muddy 15min dh race by 35 seconds, and passed Lopes in his run. Justin Leov 2nd with a crash apparently, and Neethling 3rd, but I guess the timing got all screwed up.

Friday @ Crankworx

WHISTLER, BC.

Currently raining and muddy. Hard to make sense of what's up there on the hill, slopestyle, 4x, and dual slalom are all in the same general area. 4x track is pretty fun, basic, but fast, with a nice long first straight. Pro section halfway down the course with a big step down into studders. Bit of a slow day, most people are either riding DH or hiding from the rain. It's supposed to rain tomorrow aslo, standard, dirt here holds the water, but puddles are forming. Went through a stack of tearoffs, then bailed. Saw Cedric out riding. He has been injured for the last month with a really bad infection in his leg, rocker foot style , but he's doing better now. c ya

Check out the pattern on our couch .

Seattle Red Bull Soapbox race

Red Bull is putting on a Soap Box race 5 minutes down the street from where I live here in Seattle!!!. It is on the 29th of September, after interbike, so I might actually get to go see it!! Stoked. They judge on speed, creativity, and showmanship. You know people from seattle will bring some sort of freakshow:) mark your calendar, can't wait.

Austria 4x finals

SCHLADMING, AUSTRIA

GT dominates as Lopes and I locked up wins tonight. This victory also gives Lopes the overall World Cup 4X title one race early. For me it will come down to the last round, winner take all. Second place in the overall for men will also come down to the final round in Maribor. With only 5 rounds this year, mistakes cost a lot, they used to have 7 or 8 rounds which was better for overall titles, meant it wasn't as catastrophic when you had a bad race. Anywhoo, to the action...

DH Practice + 4x Quali

SCHLADMING, AUSTRIA

DH

I went up in the gondola with intentions to watch a little dh practice, but couldn't be bothered hiking for 2 hrs and getting wet. I've seen the track before and this year only has a couple changes according to the word on the street. Guess the new woods section claimed lots of people, steep, rooty, muddy. Looks like it will be a rough ride the whole way down, there aren't too many places to recover, dunno. Bottom is straighter and faster than before, they still have a couple wood ramp kickers for people to get rad with:) Also one dirt kicker right at the finish line with no way to avoid landing in the muck, that would be embarrassing place to slip sideways. Neethling brought a secret weapon for this track,, a fresh goose , check er out.

4x

Long day sitting around, practice today didn't start till 6pm, same for tomorrow. Race starts at 8pm under lights. Track was a lot more blown out than yesterday, slick in spots, but a lot of fun.

"Smoked by Polc",,,Filip Polc was fastest today, then Gee, then Lopes 3rd . This track was loose, so it was easy to make mistakes or ride too conservative, good for DH skills. Prokop had a couple little mistakes for 8th, but he'll probably put those little clippys back on and get in the mix .

I won the women's quali, few mistakes, but it was good enough:). Poor Anneke had to do two runs cause they messed up the timing. Track is long, you feel it, especially after hiking up the hill all of practice . Better turnout for girls, 14 and there a lot of em out of action right now too. No Buhly, Anita, Eva, Tara, etc. Track has nothing really hard on it, just the turns are tricky, so it's probably less intimidating. Either way, there will be some sweet drifts. 4x phil (track builder) did alright.

Austria 4x practice

SCHLADMING, AUSTRIA

One minute it is nice and sunny, then pouring rain, then sunny again, then pouring the rest of the night, weather can't make up it's mind:) All the rain won't be much of a factor for the 4x, it's boggy, but holding up.

World Cup #4

SCHLADMING, AUSTRIA

Made it to Austria after a 22hr travel day:). Seattle, Washington D.C., Frankfurt, Salzberg. Not all bad when you get an upgrade, seems to go faster than you think, it's all the layovers and transfers that drag it out. Anyway, bit rainy over here, not terrible, saturday and sunday look to be ok maybe...

Polc Interview

In my opinion, Filip Polc is one of the most under estimated racers on the circuit. Native to Slovakia, Polcster isn't really an attention seeker, keeps it low key, and lets his shredding on the bike speak for itself. He goes big. This year you might have seen the headline "Smoked by Polc"? well his year is going pretty well so far and I am guessing it won't be the last time you hear that phrase.....

Red Bull Elevation

WHISTLER, BC.

Whistler is a place like no other. BMX Dirt guys were there yesterday to ride big ol jumps for the Red Bull Elevation contest. My brother was there riding, but they only qualified 12 guys out of prelims and he was 16th:( Saw some pictures of the course, it looked crazier than last year which seems to be standard issue for whistler. More resorts should step it up like this for bikes, utilize summers. Niquist won on a borrowed MacNeil bike, Bohen 2nd, but even cooler Brian Foster 3rd. Blue Falcon must have some new tricks up his sleeve...
