Red Bull Soapbox race

SEATTLE, WA

It is always exciting to go see a Red Bull event, especially when it is 5 minutes from your house. Soapbox races are for crafting outrageous human-powered carts to race against the clock in a downhill sprint to the finish line. It is a creativity event with some engineering and lots of personality. Speed, steering and flair...

VW UPgrage

SEATTLE, WA

Traded in the ol VW Golf and bought my first NEW car yesterday!!! It's a 2008 6-speed turbo Passat Wagon. The thing is a rocket with the same engine as the GTI, and a lot of aluminum to make it handle awesome. 6-speed manual transmissiion is like 50x better than an automatic version of this car, but they are rare in the US cause people would rather hold a latte than rally, not me:).This is my third VW, stoked.

KORE posters

SEATTLE, WA

KORE is my only local sponsor, so it's nice to be able to drive down the street and say hello. They were packing up for Interbike, so I had a sneak peak at their new stuff. The BMX bars and stem are pretty sweet, basically the same angles as the Slam Bars, Prokop approved. Been really happy with their stuff so far, and am liking the logo and packaging quite a bit, so it is worth a look. If you want a signed Jill poster, or a non signed Prokop poster- the KORE booth will be the only place to go. I went over there today all sick and sniffley to sign a few of em. I'm skipping the show this year, but will be there in spirit:) Thanks to Lance, Wick, and John Gibson for the Photo.

3.5 laps around the world

These are my ticket stubs from the past month. I did the math, 35,545 air miles this month, but 89,520 miles since April when I came back from OZ. That is about 3.5 times around the earth in a 6 month span. Glad to be home finally.

DH World Cup finals

Maribor, Slovania

Sam and Sabrina took World Cup titles to match their Rainbows from last week. Domination. Sam looked like he had plenty more in his tank when he cruised past me. There were some guys who looked maybe a little faster in the sections, but not as smooth or in control. It is something, to be comfortable at that kind of speed.

Rachel Atherton won the women's race, think by 8 seconds, but because of her broken arm earlier this season, she had nothing for the overall series. Should have seen her fly down the rock section, for sure at least 4 seconds made up right there!!

4x World Cup Finals

Maribor, Slovania

Not much to write about today. One mistake has broken my little heart. Hit a root and slid sideways dropping me back to 3rd in the semi, so I wasn't even in the final. Won the small final, but whatever:( Anneke has the title. Lopes won the Men's title before he came to this race, so he had nothing to worry about. Ups and downs, ay.

Maribor 4x quali

Maribor, Slovania

Track is pretty fun here, bit rugged. Anyway quali started out ghetto. They messed up the timers for the first two girls, me and Anneke, and we had to run again. I took off the strapping tape on my elbow and had to scramble to get it taped up again for run #2. Wasn't that good though, Anneke edged me out. I wasn't as aggresive as I should have been. Anyway, we had 20 girls so that was good. On like Donkey Kong tomorrow.

Romain Saladini finished first in the men's , then Prokop, Lopes, Jared. I think.

Maribor, Slovenia

Maribor, Slovania

Dh track looks amazing. Probably the one course with everything; steep, open, fast, rocky, rooty, smooth, grass, pedaling, ton of corners, flat, etc.

4x track is different. It is really long and has some interesting things in it, real mountain style, and lots of pedaling, plenty of room. Looks to be good. Dirt is boggy right now, but the sun should ba out all week.

Croatia for a day

ZAGREB, CROATIA

For the final World cup round in Maribor, we flew into the neighboring country of Croatia. Oh my goodness this is a prime piece of Europe that very few people even think about. We had a day off, so we drove down to the beach and went swimming in the Adriatic, Zadar was the city. I guess you could say the terrain is similar to Italy. I was well impressed, would be an awesome place for a real vacation. Borat impersonations all over the place. Cool thing too is that there are no overweight people it seems.

Day Before The DH Final

FT.WILLIAM, SCOTLAND

Saturday is just a practice day for Dh, the final race is tomorrow (Sunday). I got up early to watch a bit of practice though. Haven't been up on the hill all week, so I was keen to see what's been happening out there. It's cold, muddy, and rocky:) Same ol. Lots going on actually, but you never know till race day who will be champ. Just wondering where Dave Wardell is, though he would be up at the top minding the sheep.

Three-peat

FT.WILLIAM, SCOTLAND

3 World titles in a row,,, sooo completely stoked!!! Lopes took his 4th World Title last night as well. For atmosphere and show, this was the best World Champs I have been to. THe English/ Scotish know how to throw a party. Firework, racing under the lights, thousands of fans, beer tents, packed grandstands, you all should have been here!!

Jeep Finals

VAIL, COLORADO

Jeep finals at Beaver creek yesterday. I won my race, Prokop won his race and the overall somehow after missing the second round. Points in the girls racing was too tight for me to miss a round and still win the jeep, but 2 wins out of two races is still ok. Anneke played it consistent and won the series, congrats.

I don't really feel like writing much, absolutely tragic day, as my long time rival, Tara Llanes had a horrific crash yesterday, airlifted to Denver with spinal injury, no feeling in her legs yet. I'm sure there will be a press release when she knows more and is ready to give it, she's just out of surgery. This is not something that any of us ever want to hear, especially when it is someone on our tight circle of people, doesn't even feel real. Send her all the positive energy you have!!!, keep her fighting!!!. She was behind me when it happened, I didn't even know. Sooo heartbroken for her, we all are. She is a great rider, my favorite person to race infact, always ready to throw down. It is not up to me to publish this, but I know people are all concerned for her, more info and time before anything is completely certain.
