Snow, rain, ice, fog, sun, tumbleweeds, and now 1300 miles later I'm in the blue skies and 70 degree weather of Southern California. Made the usual stops in Bend to see Apes (April Lawyer) and Shep, Sven and Anka, and Santa Cruz to see my pals Anthony, Justin Buckley, and ol Pruitt:). New chapter, 9 months in So Cal.
Team Manager Steve Interview
Finally the man behind the titile Steve "the Effin Legend"- Steve Spencer. Steve is our team manager at GT, and it is safe to say he earned this title, ten fold. I have never known a first year team manager to work as hard Steve while still keeping everything so fun. He is hilarious, and a vital piece of our success. When shit hits the fan, guess who's there to problem solve,,,The Effin Legend has it covered...
Too bad this isn't motocross, ol Ben would have himself a few bucks for the title of Privateer of the year. I gave him the title, so all he gets is a sweet interview. Ben works really hard to hold his program together. There is no doubt for his love of riding. Irelands finest downhiller for sure.
This Olympic ambassador program brought together 2008 hopefuls from all different summer sports
, as a guide or introduction as to how to represent the USA with honor and learn about the games. Past Olympians share their inspirational stories, we meet athletes we would never know in normal circumstances, learn about their sports, and interact. They cover everything from historic events, how to deal with media, the Olympic torch (which is lit by a parabolic mirror and sunlight), to cultural awareness. I Never knew that throwing cabbage at someone in China is a gesture of good luck. hmm:) lion dance
Don't think you need much more psyche than walking into a gym like this, full of Olympians. The Olympic training center is amazing down here. BMX has made it's mark, they started building the replica track, and it's looking pretty replica. Feel fortunate to be a part of this program. It has come around more than I could have imagined.
Just like this Biggie Smalls cover song.... I'm going going back back to cali cali....Not exactly like the WHOLE song, but part of it:). I'll be down there for a week to scope out the scene, then am moving down there for the winter to live by the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, near San Diego, if it isn't burnt to a crisp.

Prokop is a champ. He has become one of my favorite people on tour, and is definitely someone to look up to. I've never heard a bad word about anything out of his mouth, and his riding pretty much speaks for itself. Humble and talented. In 2008 Prokop will balance the MTB/ BMX schedule, but his focus is on the BMX Olympic dream....
