Ladies ride free weekend @ Ray's MTB park
CLEVELAND, OHIO
9 pro ladies and about 40 other women came to ride for the Women's day at Ray's mountain bike park. It was 22 degrees outside and snowing, so I'm guessing bike riders from around this area are very happy that an indoor place like this exists to keep riding in the winter. GT Bicycles and Mongoose are sponsors of the park, so I came to represent and ride with the ladies, this was my first time here. Ray's has a bunch of special days like this women's one, but most of the time all you gotta do is just show up and sign the waiver to ride.
The building is an old parachute factory from WWII that has been converted to a bike park. Box jumps, wooden pump tracks, northshore stunts, xc loop around the building and up through the rafters, foam pit, and other skills type things. It is a good place to learn, demo bikes, or just mob around riding different stuff. We did a couple hours of teaching basics, which was fun. Beginners have all they need here to build up confidence. The ideal setup would be a hardtail or BMX, few duallys but it's better with no squish at a skatepark.
Lots of riding, and at the end of the day a sweet little concert sponsored by Pabst Blue ribbon.:)
