Half links or Hobbits?

I Just found out about Half link chains. Not sure how long they have been out, but they are the ticket. Makes changing gears on fixed gear bikes so much better for keeping the back wheel in that sweet spot. Check em out. half links.

Girls Ride weekend at Ray's

Ladies ride free weekend @ Ray's MTB park

CLEVELAND, OHIO
9 pro ladies and about 40 other women came to ride for the Women's day at Ray's mountain bike park. It was 22 degrees outside and snowing, so I'm guessing bike riders from around this area are very happy that an indoor place like this exists to keep riding in the winter. GT Bicycles and Mongoose are sponsors of the park, so I came to represent and ride with the ladies, this was my first time here. Ray's has a bunch of special days like this women's one, but most of the time all you gotta do is just show up and sign the waiver to ride.

The building is an old parachute factory from WWII that has been converted to a bike park. Box jumps, wooden pump tracks, northshore stunts, xc loop around the building and up through the rafters, foam pit, and other skills type things. It is a good place to learn, demo bikes, or just mob around riding different stuff. We did a couple hours of teaching basics, which was fun. Beginners have all they need here to build up confidence. The ideal setup would be a hardtail or BMX, few duallys but it's better with no squish at a skatepark.

Lots of riding, and at the end of the day a sweet little concert sponsored by Pabst Blue ribbon.:)

Thanks to Ray for the hospitality, Nina B for being a BMX freestyle shredder and our local connection, Dirtrag mag, the fellas who work at the park, Afro pat, KP for the laughs, GT Bikes, Red Bull, and Oakley for being great sponsors of mine and of the park, and all the girls for coming out to ride!! C ya.

The "Flick" interview..OLympic Rowing

Knowing what someone goes through on a daily basis to achieve peak performance is interesting no matter what sport. I am going to start doing interviews with a few of my homies around here, so you can have insight to something other than bikes, and know who to cheer for during the games:) First up, one of my tallest friends, Rower extraordinaire, and nice guy...Marc Flickinger.

Windham Does it!!

Can I get a hell yeah for Windham's win at the Houston Supercross yesterday, I was psyched. It's his first win since that mud race n '05. 7 races down, 12 more to go. It would take a miracle for anyone to beat Chad Reed, but anything's possible, let's hope Windham can repete:).

One race left to go in the West coast Lites class. Jason Lawrence is on top for now with Dungee not too far back. Final round in Seattle April 26th, everyone back home better go. http://www.supercrossonline.com

S&M Legend, Shaun Butler

..Went up to practice Friday night at Lake Perris BMX. They are having an ABA race this weekend, so as we were walking over to watch races, Goldie Leshaun Butler aka "Shaun Butler" cruised past doing some flatland tricks, barspins or something before his moto in the staging area. S&M Oldskool jersey, no visor, dirt jump bike, yep :). Guess he lives close by and came out for a couple hot laps. I tried to convince him to bust out a 360,,, but it was only his second lap, and he was racing:) Pretty rad, he's such a legend, I never officially met him before, but he's friends with my bro, so. Most of those kids at the track have no idea, but I knew. Remember the old sheep hills scene? He was/is the man at the trails!!!. My camera officially died, so I blew it, did get an autograph that said, "Get Rad", thanks, that I will.

Greg Minnaar interview

Double "N" double "A"- Mi N N A A r. Greg is a true Champion and one of the most talented and personable riders you will ever meet. Over the past 5 or 6 years, he has collected several World Cup Downhill victories, and in '03 reigned as World Champ. But one of the biggest things to hit Downhill mountain biking was the unveiling of Honda on the scene with an experimental Downhill bike called the RN01. Greg was pilot of that bike for the past 4 years and a very important piece of the testing and development that came with it. With the decision not to make that bike production, the team, and Greg had to move on. Where he landed was amongst stars,,, Steve Peat, Nathan Rennie, Josh Bryceland, and now Greg Minnar are the Santa Cruz Syndicate team for '08...

CTi Custom Knee Brace

Wanted to give a big thanks to CTi braces for hooking me up with a new friend for my right knee, pinky and I are like one:) The custom ligament Knee brace is motocross worthy, so it's really comfy, dialed for bikes, and even works with a knee cup:).

Cti's parent company Ossur makes prosthetics- like the Cheetah foot, and other tech equipment. Find out what's really in a leg.... I recommend you start here with any bracing or prosthetic needs, these guys make the goods.

San Diego SUPERCROSS

SAN DIEGO, CA
Supercross last night turned out to be pretty exciting. Qualcomm stadium busting at the seams, parking lots at full capacity and people crammed up in the nosebleed sections. People got their money's worth (unless they bought a whole pizza), the battle for top 3 was entertaining all the way to the end....

year of the rat

Just saw on the news that Rat soup, black pepper-dipped rat, and deep-fried rat are being served in Taiwan, Vietnam, and China celebrating the coming year of the rat. Sounds so freaking disgusting, they showed a guy chopping one up and you could see the little rat ears. Maybe maybe if your broke, gonna die if you don't eat something, and there is a shortage of chickens, but this is becoming a popular item apparently. Celebrate the year of the rat by eating one? I dare you!!. The other other other white meat, "very delicious"??..Perhaps.
