MARIBOR, SLOVENIA
Aside from all the teams setting up, riders getting their bikes ready for practice tomorrow, and walking inspection, today was pretty chilled.
4x Practice was today, I am not riding the 4x here, just the DH. From what I have been told about the track, it's slippery, and really fast. There are a few Changes to the last part of the track, a new big double that looks sick, and a few more wooded sections.
The DH is so rad, when I found out that this race was on the schedule again, I was so pumped. The high speed sections, rocks, roots, jumps, and natural terrain just scream SICKNESS! I'm pretty excited to ride tomorrow, I missed this race last year with my Broken Wrist, and I came to watch. So to get to ride, is rad.
Rhys Willemse is a super fast Aussie JR over here on his rookie season riding for Tomac Bikes. There was some controversy with his selection on the Aussie JR Worlds Team earlier this year, although he, in my opinion is the fastest Jr since Sam (Hill) I guess he didnt meet some of the criteria set out by Cycling Australia??? And wasn't going to be on the team.. I guess because his mum is from New Zealand, he was going to ride for NZ if he couldn't ride for Aus. None the less, it's all sorted, he's on the Junior Worlds Team. Nice one mate.
-Red Bull have a new drink out over here, steve punished it and said it was nice. Red Bull Cola.
-My homie, and all round nice guy, Markus Klaussman (probably made a mess of his name) Just had a baby boy! congrats to him!
-Mark VanZyl, Minnaar's X mechanic, has moved on to working with Sram Europe, It's nice, he fits in well with those guys, i'm sure he will be apreciated.
-Everyones favourite little lucky charm from Ireland, Ben Reid has upgraded his Pit set-up, fuzzy walls, all new awning and a new paint job, 'Team Just Reid' is looking good.
-Our newest member to Team GT this year is Mark Maurrisen from Belgum, After 2 years with Honda, he is back as our Euro Mechanic, he does a damn fine job. So now, not only do we have Steve 'the Effin Ledgend' as our Team Manager, The Monk Dawg holding down the fort, we have Mark 'the Super mechanic' on GT's side. Welcome back mate! (Mark was the GT Europe Mechanic in 2005, before heading to Honda)
More tomorrow. Later.

Hi Bryn,
Thanks so much for what you said about Rhys. It means alot to us and I know Rhys will be really happy once he gets to read your comment.
Thank god everything is now sorted and Rhys is riding for Australia. Its been a hard time for Rhys and I hope this doesn't show in his riding over there.
Good luck with the season and can you do me a favor? Keep an eye on Rhys for us? That kid would lose his head if it wasn't stuck on. ha ha!
Cheers
Jo
