Fontana Winter Series
FONTANA, CA
I cruised up to Fontana yesterday to spend a little time with the locals- check out the Winter series. Fontana is the only consistent gravity mountain bike racing venue going on in southern California, so it is awesome that Donny Jackson puts his time into this, as well as ODI, and their other sponsors....
I am not cleared to race yet cause of my knee, but a mini session was had nice n easy. I have new motivation like never before, feel so good right now and getting better daily...can't wait for the World Cups!! 
4x Track has a good layout, just needs a couple changes, nore tech stuff, to hold National pro level racing. Eric Carter is the reigning champ here, and I think is going to put a little bit of his building skill to work before the first Gravity Tour event in March. He had a shiny trophy for his first place racing efforts, but it wasn't an easy holeshot into the first turn. Quite a few BMX homies are riding 26" and have starts dialled, making the old guy earn it. Don't remember the full Pro podium results, sorry.
The rest of the racing was pretty good, saw some passes, flat tires, and a bunch of kids monster trucking through the corners on big ol bikes:) Grassroots racing is great, so much character out there.
So they hold XC races in the morning, 4x in the afternoon (saturday), and DH practice most of the day, then race DH sunday. Lots of time to ride, so it is worth the trip. Bigger turnout than what I expected too, think like 200 riders?? Noteworthy appearances by BIG house

, Colby form ODI, X fusion rig, Shimano Leo, Chumba Wumba rig?. Dunno, there were a lot of people. I was trying to catch up with old teammates and friends I haven't seen in a year.
The snow in the background added a little Winter ambiance. :) More races coming up....
