WHeels of speed- Final
![]()
WILLINGEN, GER
Yesterday in quali Gee Atherton set the fastest time, followed by Mic Hannah, then I think Neethling. Track looks pretty even, straight forward, man made, not that technical just jumpy, windy, and fast.
For finals today the conditions were almost perfect; sun out, dry conditions, not too much wind, lots of fans....
Hiking down from the top, I was impressed with the speeds, I know it is different when on the bike, but watching from a stationary position it seemed extra fast. Only a few places really differentiated riders, think the grass turns at the bottom were one spot and maybe the really high speed bits in the middle. Holding nothing in reserve for the sprints, easy on the brakes in the fast turns and hitting smooth transitions seemed to be the ticket, but that's the case for most tracks:).
Speakers were rigged up along the course to hear commentary, but it was all in german, so all I heard was excitement excitement, a name, a name called louder then louder and some other crazy stuff, then wait and if the name was repeated to know who was in the hot seat with the fastest time.
Bryn
had a decent run, but he said just not fast enough today- 10th
. Results were kind of similar to yesterday, with Gee topping Mic hannah
, but only by a .001 of a second. Closest of margins. Kovarik
was up there for 3rd, Polc 4th, Matti 5th
.
